For casting the hero, he approached several
established and well known actors, but they all
politely refused. One of them was forthcoming
in his refusal and pointed out that Mere Apne
was woman-centric and did not have a
challenging role for him. "If you ever have a
subject that has a pivotal role for me, I'll do it".
