California Arts Association presents its first production of 2004, "... Suno Bhai Sadho!", a Hindi program based on various musical forms
related to the glorious Indian devotional traditions.

Indian subcontinent is blessed with a long history and cultural heritage, offering a beautiful repertoire of performing arts in general and
music in particular. India also boasts to be the home for some of the most ancient religious and philosophical movements, each going
through phases of rediscovery and redefinition. All these had a great impact on the music of those times and created intriguing musical
traditions, most of which are still followed in contemporary musical world. This presentation with Hindi narration will demonstrate this
very special relation between various Hindustani philosophies and corresponding musical forms.

The program will feature works by Shri Shankaracharya, Jaydev, Amir Khusrau, Kabir, Tulsidas, Soordas, Meerabai, Gyaneshwar and
other great saint-poets. Their compositions like Shloka, Dhrupad, Ashtapadi, Bhajan, Bandish, Doha, Choupai, Vachana, Abhanga &
Sufiyana Qalam will be presented by renowned Bay Area talents. We are extremely fortunate to have very gifted artists in the Bay Area
and CalAA is proud to present some of the finest amongst them.
